The holiday season is quickly approaching, and with it, we\noften indulge in foods and drinks that we don\u2019t regularly consume year-round. While\nthese items may be delicious, more often than not, they\u2019re not exactly nutritious,\neither for our waistline or our dental health. Avoid Hard Foods <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your enamel, or the outermost layer of your teeth, is the\nhardest material in your entire body. However, it can still be damaged. Accidentally\nbiting into a popcorn kernel or chewing hard candy or nuts can lead to a broken\ntooth that constitutes a severe dental emergency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Generally, you should avoid chewing on an item if it\u2019s as\nhard or harder than your teeth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t Let Bacteria Build Up <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When you consume foods or beverages with lots of sugar, bacteria\ncling to the leftovers in your mouth and feed on them, creating acids that wear\naway at your tooth enamel. This can result in cavities and even gum tissue\ndamage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
